The Chiefs defeated the Texans and remain undefeated with a record of 7-0. I readily acknowledge the achievement of winning seven games in a row but caution Chiefs fans that the NFL season is long and the competition will get tougher. The reality is that the combined record of Chiefs opponents in 14-33 and the Chiefs will continue to benefit from an easy schedule next week when they play the Cleveland Browns (3-4). I’m bullish on the Chiefs – who isn’t – yet cautiously optimistic about how they will fair against winning teams. PK
I’m so proud of the 6-0 start my former team the Chiefs are off to and to think they won only 2 games all of last year. How does a team, in the hyper competitive NFL effect such a turnaround in one off season? The answer lies at the top with owner Clark Hunt who has bravely admitted his mistake in hiring General Manager Scott Pioli in 2009 and masterfully replacing him with John Dorsey who Hunt teamed with veteran coach Andy Reid.
It’s not easy to admit mistakes especially when NFL fans worldwide are watching yet Clark Hunt be acknowledged as the architect of one of the great organizational turnarounds in recent history.
I will post more on the Chiefs progress as the 2013 NFL season unfolds. PK
